Welcome to Breckenridge
Breckenridge is a great place for skiing, biking, hiking, running and they have some great fishing in the Blue River. It makes a great base for Quandary Peak, Lincoln, Democrat & Bross, Mt. Sherman, and even Grays' & Torreys' southwestern approaches. Everybody has something to choose from in this town. I personally love the shopping there are so many cool little shops with very unique items.
Breckenridge was first settled in 1859 following the discovery of gold. Breckenridge was named after Vice President John Breckinridge but in 1864 when the civil war broke out he sided with the south and at that point the towns people want to change the name but at that point the easiest thing to do was to change the i to an e and itís been Breckenridge ever since.
This town has a lot of history. Learn and Enjoy!
